เราเริ่มจากการอ่านรีวิวและตัวอย่างคำถาม-คำตอบในการสัมภาษณ์วีซ่าออแพร์จากบทความต่างๆ ในอินเทอร์เน็ต รวมทั้งจาก YouTube ซึ่งช่วยได้มาก แม้ว่าข้อมูลการสัมภาษณ์วีซ่าออแพร์อเมริกาโดยเฉพาะจะมีไม่มากเท่าไร ส่วนใหญ่ที่เห็นจะเป็นการสัมภาษณ์วีซ่าไป work&travelมากกว่า เพราะเป็นโครงการที่เป็นที่คนส่วนใหญ่รู้จัก แต่ก็สามารถนำมาประยุกต์ใช้ได้ เนื่องจากทั้งออแพร์และwork&travelใช้วีซ่าแลกเปลี่ยนJ1เหมือนกัน ดังนั้นคำถามจึงค่อนข้างคล้ายกัน
ต่อจากนั้นเราจึงlistคำถาม และตัวอย่างคำตอบไว้ นำมาจัดเรียงใหม่ และลองเติมคำตอบของตนเองลงไป ก่อนที่จะฝึกซ้อมพูดและปรับแก้คำตอบหลายครั้งเพื่อให้ดูกระชับ และตรงคำถาม จะเรียกว่า"ท่องจำจนขึ้นใจ"เลยก็ว่าได้ ฝึกซ้อมพูดหน้ากระจกจนรู้สึกว่า"คล่องปาก"และพูดได้อย่างเป็นธรรมชาติ อย่างน้อยตอนไปสัมภาษณ์แล้วเกิดตื่นเต้นตกใจแบบเราจนฟังคำถามไม่ทัน ก็ยังพอจับจุดและตอบคำถามได้ ไม่ปล่อยเงียบนานจนเจ้าหน้าที่คิดว่าเราสื่อสารภาษาอังกฤษไม่ได้ การฝึกซ้อมนี้ช่วยให้เราผ่านการสัมภาษณ์วีซ่ามาได้จริงๆ

ตัวอย่าง คำถาม-คำตอบ สัมภาษณ์วีซ่าออแพร์ อเมริกา (ที่เรารวบรวมมา)
★1. ทักทาย เจ้าหน้าที่อาจทักมาเป็นภาษาไทย แต่เราก็ตอบภาษาอังกฤษไปGood morning. How are you?

ถามหาหนังสือรับรองการทำงาน ถ้ามีก็ตอบว่า Yes, I do. แล้วยื่นให้เขาไป
แต่ถ้าไม่มีก็ตอบ No, I don't have it right now but, I can give you later. ซึ่งส่วนใหญ่เขาก็ไม่เอาหรอก
★6. Why do you want to be an au pair? / What do you expect from the Au Pair program?
ให้เน้นว่าต้องการไปแลกเปลี่ยนประสบการณ์ดูแลเด็ก และพัฒนาภาษาอังกฤษ ห้ามตอบสิ่งที่ทำให้เจ้าหน้าที่คิดว่าเราจะไปอยู่ถาวรหรือนอกเหนือจากวีซ่าJ1เด็ดขาด เช่น เปลี่ยนวีซ่า ทำงานเสริม เด็ดขาด!

7. Why do you want to go to America / state (รัฐที่เราจะไป) / the US?
เช่น อเมริกากว้างใหญ่ มีหลากหลายเชื้อชาติ จะได้ไปเปิดโลก เรียนรู้วัฒนธรรม ฝึกการใช้ชีวิตด้วยตนเอง และอเมริกาใช้ภาษาอังกฤษเป็นหลัก ทำให้ได้พัฒนาภาษาอังกฤษ แล้วประสบการณ์จากการเป็นออแพร์จะมีประโยชน์ต่อการทำงานในอนาคต

I know them from.....(ชื่อเอเจนซี่)... I interviewed with them by Skype and emails.

My responsibilities are looking after them/her/him, driving them to do activities and school, helping them with school work, cooking, etc. (บอกหน้าที่เกี่ยวกับเลี้ยงเด็กคร่าวๆ)
★21. What will you do when you finish your au pair year? / What are your plans when you return to Thailand?
ควรตอบว่าจะกลับมาประเทศไทย แม้ว่าจริงๆแล้วเราวางแผนว่าจะอยู่มากกว่า 1ปี
-I will come back to Thailand to study in a master degree and work as a ....(อาชีพ)...
22. Do you intend to study in America? / Do you plan to study in the US?
I have to finish 6 credits as an Au Pair, other than that NO. (อันนี้ควรตอบNoเพราะว่าเค้าจะได้เห็นว่าตั้้งใจไปเป็นออแพร์ แล้วจะกลับไทยจรงๆ หลังจบโครงการ ไม่ใช่ไปออแพร์แล้วไปเปลี่ยนวีซ่าเป็นอย่างอื่น แล้วอยู่ ถึงแม้จะอยากทำจริงๆ ก็รอให้จบโครงการก่อน แล้วก็ไม่ต้องไปบอกตอนสัมภาษณ์วีซ่าออแพร์)
The program reauires me to study fo 6 credits. I'm going to take an English class during my au pair program. After I finished the program, I'll return to Thailand.
23. What / where will you study during the Au Pair program?
I'll study an English class / ESL class in a community college near by my house to complete 6 credits of Au Pair educational requirement.
อันนี้เคยมีคนโดนถาม แล้วไม่เข้าใจคำถาม คือคิดว่าจะไปเป็นออแพร์ จะเรียนที่ไหน เรียนอะไรค่อยหาตอนไปอยู่นู่นแล้ว เพราะตอนนี้ยังไม่รู้ชื่อโรงเรียนหรือรายละเอียดอะไร แต่เราคิดว่าเขาต้องการดูว่าเราเข้าใจกฏของโครงการไหมที่ต้องไปเรียนเก็บหน่วยกิตให้ครบ แล้วตั้งใจไปเป็นออแพร์จริงๆ มีการวางแผนไปคร่าวๆ ว่าอยากเรียนอะไร ความคิดเห็นส่วนตัวคิดว่า ตอบว่าไปเรียนภาษาอังกฤษปลอดภัยสุด เพราะเหตุผลที่อยากไปเป็นออแพร์ส่วนหนึ่งก็เพราะอยากพัฒนาภาษา ไว้เวลาไปจริงแล้วค่อยไปเรียนอย่างอื่นก็ได้ไม่มีใครว่า

26. What is your contract right about Au Pair program?
My job is looking after the host kids and doing light household (Kids' laundry, cleaning kids' are). I'll work 45 hours per week and no longer than 10 hours per day. I'll have at least one full weekend off per month. The host family provides food and room for me, pay me $295.75 per week and $500 for education.
27. If your children have accident or unwell, what will you do?
- I'll do basic first like a stop bleeding and call for help at 911.
- I'll call 911. I'll tell them the situation and address.
28. If you have disagreement/ problem with the host family, How are you going to handle it?
I'm going to communicate with them. Hopefully, we can come up with compromise solution, If not, I'll ask my area director to help.

ตอบคร่าวๆ ถ้าไม่สามารถตอบเป็นภาษาอังกฤษได้ก็บอกว่า Sorry, can I explain in Thai? ซึ่งเจ้าหน้าที่สามารถฟังภาษาไทยได้อยู่แล้ว
34. Why do you apply for visa here instead of Chiangmai ?
Because I have to join in the get ready workshop here.
นี่เป็นตัวอย่างที่เรารวบรวมมา บางประโยคอาจจะยาวเยิ่นเย้อไปหน่อย แกรมม่าร์ไม่ค่อยถูกต้อง หรือเจ้าหน้าที่อาจจะดัดแปลงใช้คำศัพท์ที่ต่างออกไป แต่โดยรวมแล้วก็จะถามประมาณนี้ โดยเฉพาะข้อที่ดาวไว้ ★ ถามแน่ๆลองนำไปปรับใช้กับตัวเองดูนะคะ
